I was sick with an upset stomach from Wednesday evening to Sunday morning. It was very horrific and I'll leave out the gassly, yes lots of gas, details (pun intended). I don't know what was the source of my sickness, but it wasn't fun. I actually called into work sick one day because I prefer using my home restroom than the stalls at my office.
According to Web MD there are many causes of diarrhea, but the largest concern for me was dehydration. I've fainted in the past due to dehydration and it's not fun. So, if you ever have liquid bowel movements, please replenish your body's water.
Basically your body is trying to rid of whatever bug it has and washes out your insides. It's hard to eat anything for fear of it just getting washed out, but I usually eat Saltine crackers. I wish I ate the crackers on day 1, but I didn't want to buy a whole box when I only eat 1/2 a stack of them.
On Sunday morning, I was so sick of being sick that I bought some Imodium, a box of crackers, and Gatorade. That night, I had some lugao (rice porridge) for dinner and I haven't had any diarrhea since.
I was really trying to let my system flush itself out, but I couldn't take it anymore. The Imodium stopped the diarrhea, and the saltine crackers satisfied my hunger for the day and helped keep my stomach calm.
Positive side of this story is, I learned how to cook Lugao from my Bf's mom who is an outstanding cook! I can now have it whenever I want!!
