banner

i'm very new to blogging and don't even know how many people actually read the stuff i write. for those of you that do, THANKS and please comment if there is something you like, don't like, or would like read about.

yesterday, i was contemplating whether or not to write a new post or work on the design of things. i was feeling artsy so i decided to work on creating a banner for the blog. let me tell you that i don't really have a good hand in drawing, but i am not terrible if i do say so myself!

my thought process:
i started off with the idea of having a digital image made on a banner generator, but couldn't find the theme i wanted. a neutral background using a mustard, salmon, and teal color scheme with simple clip art images of items such as yarn, baking mitts, a gardening trowel, etc. i couldn't find anything to generate that for me so i thought of googling for images.

while searching for clip art on google, i was inspired to design a film strip of images; etsy sells a bunch of clip art in the themes that i dabble in and a lot of them are cute and had the same artistic style. i wanted to put blocks of my different interests across the heading, but i couldn't find anything with a similar color scheme even though the art was similar. i kept browsing and got a new inspiration.

how cool would it be to have a film strip of stick figures across the top heading dabbling? google images has a lot of stick figure drawings doing a bunch of different things, but this idea became problematic when i couldn't find the same style of stick figure drawings for my personal interests. i began drawing stick figures myself doing the different things i dabble in and then another idea hit me!

i am the dabbler and there is only one me, but there is a plethora of things that i dabble in... why not draw me surrounded by all the things i'm into? i decided to hand draw and i impressed myself! i didn't think that i would be able to draw all the different things but with multiple tries i succeeded. of course i was drawing in pen so i messed up hella times and had to redraw everything a few times. as i write this, i'm thinking "why the hell didn't you use a pencil?" which i respond to myself "because black pen looks cooler" HA! i made a 1st draft yesterday that included all that you see except i left out a very important person, my bf; i've already mentioned him a couple of times in past posts. i couldn't just have him standing on the side or in the background so i drew him doing what he loves, Crossfit! i almost forgot to add in our love of guns and drew in a rifle to finish off the banner right before finishing this post.

i'm very happy with how it came out!
